Photographic events of 2020
2020 - The year that we have many weeks in isolation due to Coronavirus. Because of this, parish activities were suspended, and so photos of our year were in short supply!
Enjoy scrolling through what we have managed!

christmas
December 2020
Christmas blessings to all from our parish to you!
From Working Bees to prepare our church buildings for Christmas, setting up the Christmas trees and nativity cribs; Parish Carol Service; Midnight Mass at Broadford; and Christmas morning at Christ Church.
parish council dinner
December 2020
As a parish, we give thanks for the work of our Parish Council, who keep the organisation of the parish running each year.
With restrictions eased, it was lovely for Parish Councillors and partners to join together in Gavan Hall in Broadford for a Christmas break up dinner.
Each year, Gavan Hall is decorated by a wonderful local who puts on a display for the local community. A simple gold coin donation for entry is asked, and this money goes towards the upkeep and renovations of our lovely old Church Hall in Broadford.
back to church after lockdown
November 2020
At the time of taking these photographs, we believed that this was the last lockdown and that we were back in our church buildings for good. We were wrong, but for a brief period, it was nice to ring out the church bell, and welcome everyone back - with masks and safe distancing of course.
love in action - broadford
November 2020
Many across the country were doing it tough with restrictions, job losses, and isolation due to the Covid pandemic.
The local Love in Action group in Broadford is run by a couple in our parish and ably assisted by many in the community. This wonderful group help those through tough times with donations of food.
We thank God for their love and care and commitment for those in need.
Diocesan morning prayer via zoom
September 2020
As well as our parish online worship (which can be found on this website), parishioners from across the Diocese were also invited by Bishop Clarence to join in ‘Zoom’ Diocesan Morning Prayer on line.
With everyone isolating at home, this was a great way to keep in touch and to worship together (albeit online).
roof and bell refurbishment at St Stephen’s, Tallarook
July 2020
While public worship was still restricted, it was an ideal time for some outside work on St Stephen’s Church in Tallarook.
The bell was removed and professionally cleaned. See the photos below - what a difference from when it was taken down, to when it was replaced back on the church.
Thanks to the hard work of Climac Constructions.
our churches have started to reopen (with restrictions)
June 2020
How wonderful for our country, our communities and our parishes to know that the Coronavirus restrictions have lifted sufficiently for our church buildings to reopen.
Restrictions on numbers, and strict sanitising and cleaning is taking place before each service can be held.
Keep an eye on our Pew Sheet for updates as our government and diocese ease up on what we can offer.
Photos below show the first service held at Christ Church on Sunday June 21st. Numbers were limited to only ten people with safe distancing between parishioners.
feast of pentecost
May 2020
After two months of not being allowed to worship in our church buildings due to COVID-19, the first on-line video service since Lent, was held in Christ Church. For all our on-line services, see our ‘Worship on-line’ page on this website.
WORKING BEE AT CHRIST CHURCH
May 2020
With the builders very nearly finished (one coat of paint and flooring to go), the clean up began at Christ Church at the weekend to remove the build up of dust and grime from five months of building renovations; and preparations to begin the move back to worship inside the church after COVID-19. A massive effort (with safe distancing limiting the number of helpers) from the six people involved - 5 in the church and one outside. Well done everyone.
remembrance rose garden
May 2020
With safety restrictions in place, Shirley, Patty and Sherine worked hard on the upkeep of our Remembrance Rose Garden at Christ Church. Roses are donated in memory of lost loved ones, and a fee of $25 is donated for the upkeep of the garden. The garden is looking great.
anzac day
April 2020
With the restrictions of COVID-19, ANZAC Day was commemorated without crowds gathering. Our church bell at Christ Church was rung by Fr André 33 times (one for each year of Our Lord’s life) at 6.00am - see video clip on our Video page. St Stephen’s also put a wreath up at the front door of the church in Tallarook.
palm sunday
April 2020
Palm Sunday 2020 was the start of our worship in isolation. Despite the country being in lockdown and church buildings were closed, we still decorated our churches. Our Palm Sunday Liturgy was recorded in the Rectory and the service can be found on our “Worship on-line” page.
monthly Parish BBQ
March 2020
The March monthly BBQ was held at the home of Norman and Anne - parishioners at Christ Church. Little did we know at the time that Coronavirus was about to hit and this would be our last BBQ for a while.
world day of prayer
March 2020
This year, Christ Church Kilmore hosted the International World Day of Prayer service. The theme for 2020 was the country of Zimbabwe. Parishioner Suzy Callaghan made the wonderful banner for the occasion, and the day was co-ordinated by parishioner Sherine Copeland. Churches from other denominations in the area, and some residents of the local Blue Cross Aged Care Nursing home joined in the occasion.
working bee
March 2020
Despite a fairly dry summer with not much growing, a quick impromptu working bee was called at Christ Church to keep our grounds neat and tidy.
church birthdays
February and March 2020
We don’t always need an excuse to celebrate, but we had four birthdays in three weeks in February and March. Happy birthday Aileen, Anna, Sharna and Patty!
shrove tuesday
February 2020
On Shrove Tuesday (February 25th) parishioners gathered at Christ Church for a pancake supper, followed by removing all the flowers in the church in preparation for Lent. Palm crosses from Palm Sunday 2019 were then burnt to use as ash for Ash Wednesday.
CONSECRATION AND ENTHRONEMENT OF BISHOP CLARENCE BESTER
February 2020
On February 22nd Archdeacon Clarence Bester was consecrated Bishop at St Paul’s Cathedral, Melbourne. The following day, he was then Enthroned at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Wangaratta as the 11th Bishop of Wangaratta.
Congratulations Bishop Clarence from all in the Parish.
Monthly parish BBQ
February 2020
Our parish has held social BBQ’s once a month for the last ten years. These are usually held in various homes of parishioners. In February 2020 we were hosted by Fr André and Patty DuPlooy
australia day
January 2020
Every year it is our parish tradition to celebrate this wonderful country of ours on Australia Day. We give thanks and pay respects to the traditional owners of this land - the Taungarung people, and thank God for this country and all we enjoy.
