Marriage in the Anglican Church
It is a fine thing that you wish to have God’s blessing on your marriage and the Parish Churches are fine buildings for the celebration of marriage.
The Parish Priest is licensed to conduct weddings according to the rite of the Anglican Church. The process of preparation for the special day, once you have lodged a request for marriage, requires meeting with the parish Priest to arrange the wedding service to make the ceremony personal and meaningful. This includes arranging music and readings and reviewing the different aspects of the wedding service.
A rehearsal with all the wedding party is conducted a few days prior to the day to ensure the ceremony flows smoothly and that everyone is comfortable.
There are legal requirements and documents to be completed and this can be done at the first interview. You will need to have available birth certificates and any divorce documentation as well as the Notice of Intended Marriage, and also the Marriage Booking Form if this has not been submitted electronically.
The Anglican Church does conduct marriages for divorced persons on application to the Bishop subject to certain conditions - this is attended to at the interview.
If you wish to be married by the Priest at another location other than the Church this can be accommodated but requires the Bishop’s approval.
It may be appropriate for couples to undertake relationship and marriage preparation. The Priest can provide details on what is available.
Please complete the form below and submit, and the priest will contact you to arrange an interview.
If you have any question please contact the priest by email (rector@anglicankilmore.org.au) or by phone (03 5782 1155).
