christmas - preparations, carol services and christmas day
December 2025
An amazing Service of Lessons and Carols was held on Sunday 21st December at Christ Church. We sung our hearts out singing 10 Carols and listening to God's Word from Genesis to John.
Our Parish clergy Rev Cathy and Fr André were joined by parishioners for this great service, and the music was so wonderfully accompanied by Julie on the organ.
Christmas preparations were then in place to decorate the church and get ready for the birth of the Christ Child.
prayers for the victims of the jewish MASSACRE at bondi
December 2025
Advent 4 - The Advent Candle of LOVE. Our Advent Wreaths this week come to us from St Matthew's, Broadford, and Christ Church, Kilmore where all four of the coloured candles were lit, leaving just the Christ Candle for Christmas.
During the services in the parish, parishioners were invited to light a candle for those who lost their lives, and whose lives were affected by the attack on the Jewish community on the 14th December.
op shop Christmas breakup
December 2025
Our Parish has run a Charity Op Shop for nearly 40 years with money raised going to Mission, Church funds and Emergency requests, as well as helping those less fortunate and doing it tough.
Twice a year we hold a 'Volunteer' luncheon to show our appreciation to our workers, without whom we wouldn't survive.
Loving God, we thank You for the gift of our dedicated volunteers in our Op Shop. Thank You for their generosity, for giving their precious time and energy to serve our community. Bless their hands as they sort donations, their eyes as they spot treasures, and their hearts as they offer warmth and connection to every person who walks through our door. Amen
rev Cathy’s first mass in the parish
November 2025
Our 'big' weekend continued in the Parish. Following on from the Ordination of our new Assistant Priest, Rev Cathy Turnbull, on Saturday 22nd November, she celebrated Mass for the first time, on the Feast of Christ the King. This also happens to be the Feast of Title for Christ Church, Kilmore, so it was a joy to combine all celebrations.
ordination of rev catherine turnbull (our new priest)
November 2025
What an occasion. How proud we were in the Parish to host the Ordination to the Priesthood of Rev Catherine Elizabeth Turnbull. With nearly 100 in attendance, including two Bishops (Bishop Matt Brain from Bendigo, and our own Bishop Clarence); many clergy from our own Diocese as well as the Diocese of Melbourne and Diocese of Bendigo; parishioners, and family and friends of Rev Cathy. The church was full; the music joyful and a wonderful memorable occasion.
With thanks to all who participated - those who travelled; those who prepared food; those who prayed - thank you.
Melbourne Cup Fundraiser for ABM

Episcopal visit by Bishop Clarence Bester and Parish ABM
October 2025
Sunday 26th October was wet and cold, but a warm welcome at Christ Church, Kilmore for Bishop Clarence and Michelle, and Bishop's Chaplain Rev Lesley Lewis. Bishop Clarence blessed a new Icon of Christ the King donated by Fr John Young, at the start of Mass, and at the conclusion of the service, he chaired the Parish Annual Meeting. It was wonderful that all four centres were represented and all positions for the roles of Parish Councillors, Wardens, Nominators and Synod Reps were filled. With huge thanks to all who stood for office for the next three years, and a big thank you to Bishop Clarence for being with us.
blessing of the animals - st francis day
October 2025
The Season of Creation is a time (September 1 - October 4) for Christians to come together in prayer and action for Creation. The theme for this year is "Peace with Creation" with part of Fr Paul's sermon being about Shalom - peace. The Season of Creation culminates with the Feast of St Francis which was celebrated today in the parish, with the Blessing of the Pets at both Christ Church and St Matthew's.
Kilmore Cemetery 175th anniversary
September 2025
On 12th April 1850, Robert Hoddle, the Surveyor-in-Charge of the Port Phillip District wrote to the Colonial Secretary setting out a plan for a public cemetery in Kilmore, the oldest inland town in Victoria. At one hundred and seventy-five years, Kilmore Public Cemetery is one of the oldest Victorian cemeteries that has operated continuously since its foundation. As part of the 175th anniversary, on Saturday 20th September, the Kilmore Cemetery Trust unveiled the newly restored oldest headstone in the cemetery. Parishioners and community members were invited along to the occasion.
winter appeal soup Luncheon
September 2025
Thank you to all who supported the Parish belated Winter Appeal Soup luncheon. Even with very short notice, it was lovely to welcome 13 people who enjoyed a great afternoon of fun and fellowship and home made soup, followed with 'entertainment' by Norman and Doug. $100 was raised and 15 cans of soup donated for those in need at Love in Action. If anyone missed out and would still like to make a donation, please either drop off tins of soup to any of our four churches in the parish; or monetary donations can be paid directly into our parish bank account for us to forward on, or can be placed in the Offertory Plate on Sunday.
Thanks everyone!
locums rev dr Helen malcolm and rev dr paul dalzell
August - October 2025
Our parish was blessed to have two locum’s during the Interregnum. From June to August Rev Dr Helen Malcolm joined us; and from September to November we had Rev Dr Paul Dalzell. We thank these two wonderful Priests for being with us during the Parish vacancy, and giving their time and ministry to us.
wedding of Peter and thao rose at Christ church
August 2025
Our love and God's blessings to Peter and Thao Rose who were married in August at Christ Church, Kilmore. Peter is the youngest son of parishioners Norman and Anne Rose, and has been a worshipper at Christ Church since his childhood, and it has been lovely to welcome Thao when they have visited Kilmore. We wish both Peter and Thao happiness for their future.
It was good to also welcome back to the Parish, the Officiant for the ceremony Fr André DuPlooy and his wife Patty.
pentecost
June 2025
Once again the parish tradition continued of wearing red to church for the Feast of Pentecost on Sunday 8th June. With the parish Locum, the Rev'd Dr Helen Malcolm saying Mass, Christ Church was decorated throughout with red streamers, flowers and decorations.
farewell of fr david kerr
May 2025
On Sunday 25th May the Parish farewelled David Kerr as Priest-in-Charge of the Parish of Kilmore, Broadford, Tallarook and Pyalong. A lovely farewell with speeches and presentations followed by lunch. Our love and prayers go with David as he moves away to pursue God's calling on his life to his next ministry position. God bless.
easter
April 2025
A busy Saturday at Christ Church with preparations for Easter. With thanks to Shirley, Sherine, Joy, Leanne, Douglas, Rod and Caroline who turned up to put our Church back to 'normal' after Good Friday, and for dusting, vacuuming, tidying and flower arranging.
Easter Eve and Easter Day were great celebrations of the resurrection.
A happy and blesséd Easter to you all.
Maundy thursday and good friday
April 2025
Maundy Thursday saw the traditional Foot Washing at both services at Kilmore and Broadford. At Christ Church, this was followed by the sacrament being placed on the Altar of Repose in preparation for Good Friday.
On Good Friday our churches were bare and stark, and the tabernacle empty - a reminder of the day Our Lord died.
Following the Good Friday Liturgy, the local Fire Brigade stopped by the Church to pick up our annual donation of ‘loose change’ which is collected each year for the annual Good Friday Children’s Hospital Appeal. So lovely to see the jar completely full again.
palm sunday
April 2025
"All glory, praise and honour to you Redeemer King...." How many churches the world over sang this as the processional hymn on Palm Sunday this year? What a wonderful morning at St Matthew's, Broadford today when the parish came together and gathered outside Gavan Hall for the start of the service and blessing of the Palms before all processed into the church.
Our Holy and busy week at church has begun!

world day of prayer
February 2025
A wonderful World Day of Prayer was held at St Patrick's Catholic Church on Friday 7th March). Guest speaker for the day was Maddison William, a parishioner from St Patrick's. Her family in the Cook Islands made the leis and headdresses for all to wear at the service.
Our God, who made us wonderful, thank you for the fellowship of sisters and brothers here and around the world who gather together today. Help us open our hearts to you, and to each other. May we go from here to radiate your love to the world. Amen
Australia Day
January 2025
In the parish 26th January we celebrated this wonderful country of ours. We acknowledged the past and paid respects to the Taungurung people, those past, present and emerging - the traditional owners of the land in which our parish lies, and gave thanks for all we have.
